2017 Festival Programme Revealed
Finally the time has come to reveal the 2017 Festival and this June we showcase some of the great chamber works by Franz Schubert. Our first public performance will be Schubert’s iconic string quartet “Death & the Maiden” given by the Mowsbki Quartet in St Mary’s Lasham alongside works by Haydn & Webern.
Our Artistic Director’s pick of the Festival will take place on Friday 9th June at the Alton Maltings with Louis Spohr’s rarely performed Nonet alongside a stunning arrangement of Johannes Brahms Symphony No.2 for 13 players under the baton of french conductor Chloe van Soeterstede.
On the evening of Saturday 10th there will be an intimate performance of Schubert’s masterpiece, Die Schöne Müllerin, given by Stephen Mills, Postgraduate student of the Royal College of Music and Paul Bambrough, Vice-Principal of the Birmingham Conservatoire in our first visit to the Wessex Arts Centre, Alton.
The Festival concludes on Sunday 11th at St Mary's with Johann Sebastian Bach’s cantata ‘Ich Habe Genug’ for baritone before we see out the weekend with Schubert’s Octet. With some of the most exciting musical talent from all corners of Europe it will be a weekend not to be missed and we hope you will be able to join us.
An early bird Festival Pass is available for just £30! More information can be found on our festival page!
